I'm at day 4. Reading on the internet there seems to be conflicting opinions as to when to start stretches and when to start exercises.

I had acupuncture on day 1 and physical therapy on day 3. I had been doing stretches and exercises but have now decided to stop doing the exercises.

These are the links I found online https://youtu.be/tLcKnnVSDMw  https://youtu.be/0fsGtVqXkUI

http://www.gloshospitals.nhs.uk/SharePoint70/Neurology%20Web%20Documents/Bellspalsyexercise.pdf

Can anyone help me out please in understanding when is the right time to do stretches, exercises, acupuncture, and physical therapy please? I'm confused!

Hi Hippy Gal,

The links you gave are not really relevant to someone at the start of Bell's palsy.

Synkinesis is something that can develop when recovery is slow and delayed for months.

Most people recover naturally within three or four weeks without doing anything at all.

If you are only partially paralysed then it is extremely likely that you will recover quickly and well.

Wishing you all the very best!
